One of my favourite (and unconventional ways) to add texture and depth to my pages or projects is using black stitching and threads.
They can bring a striking and stark contrast, especially against lighter backgrounds, but not only that, I love the sense of unpredictability that comes with using messy threads.
Quickly break up a uniformed space and add movement and interest with twirling and trailing threads. The next time you are stacking elements on top of each other or popping a photo down see what happens if you bring some threads into the mix!
Stitches are fun to adhere things down with but they are also incredibly fun to use as design elements themselves and to support a composition.
Curated Inspiration
Today i’ve curated lots of inspiration for you from my team using various messy black threads and stitches from my designs that I think will inspire you or give you some new design ideas.
I love threads and stitches so much that you will almost always find them nestled within all of my new release collections.
Over the years i’ve enjoyed creating separate packs of them that you can mix and match into whatever digital art stash you have.

New Chunky Threads and Stitches
You might notice that I have added two new packs of threads and stitches to my shop today, chunky ones!
These were fun, the stitches were created by hand, here’s what they looked like before I turned them into digital elements.

Ooo. I love stitching
I love your tutorials, Rachel, and I'm always hesitant to use them if they aren't stitching something down. Your inspiration will get me out of my thread phobia.
